Crystal Christian Child Care is a non-profit child care and educational center in partnership with the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene, and is located in the Lebanon Valley area. The mission of Crystal Christian is to provide children with a Christ-centered environment that will promote optimum growth in spiritual, cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development. Our center cares for children ages 6 weeks through pre-kindergarten. We offer both full-time and part-time care to meet the needs of our parents’ schedules. For the summer, we also offer a school age program for elementary children.
Mission: Our mission is to provide children with a Christ-centered environment that will promote optimum growth in spiritual, cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development.
Curriculum: Our daily learning environment is based upon the High Reach Learning Curriculum, which utilizes the whole-child philosophy. The curriculum addresses all aspects of development: social, emotional, cognitive, and physical. It emphasizes a blend of teacher-facilitated and child-initiated activities. The infant class uses the High Reach series “Bright Baby.” The toddler classes use the High Reach “Toddler” and “Twos” series. The preschool class uses the High Reach briefcase series called “Passports: Experiences for Pre-K Success.” Each of these series involves theme-based units that integrate all areas of development.
Bible Study: Each class in the center enjoys Bible lessons and songs regularly. Once a month, Children’s Pastor Ken Williams (from the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene) comes to do a chapel service with the toddler and preschool classes. We love singing and learning about God!
Gross Motor Play: We are blessed to have two playgrounds at our center: a preschool playground and a toddler playground. The preschool playground has a play set complete with swings and a slide, a sandbox, tricycles, and other outdoor toys. The toddler playground has a playhouse, sand table, and riding/pushing toys. Each class goes outside at least once a day, weather permitting. When there is inclement weather, we are able to use the church sanctuary to play with balls, riding/pushing toys, balance beams, ribbons, and other indoor toys.
